Firepower FP4000 is a liquid fuel conditioner for diesel fuel.
Product Features:
Lubricity Improvement
The lubricity of diesel fuel is critical to the trouble free running of the engine. All moving parts in the fuel delivery system (E.g. The fuel pump and fuel injectors) rely on the fuel for their lubrication. Fuel that is high in aromatic content or some ultra low sulphur fuels can have low lubricity leading to failure in these critical components.
Independent laboratory tests have demonstrated that Firepower FP4000 can increase the lubricity of diesel fuels by as much as 49%. The long term effects therefore of using FP4000 can be extended fuel pump and injector life, and overall reduced maintenance costs and equipment downtime.
Combustion Improvement
Combustion is an exothermic (heat releasing) reaction between fuel and the oxygen in the air. Incomplete combustion occurs when the fuel is not sufficiently atomized prior to ignition or when the oxygen supply is insufficient to allow full combustion. Incomplete combustion increases the release of carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, as well as unburned fuel in the form of smoke. Soot and ash buildup will occur, causing problems with pre ignition, oil system contamination and exhaust system fouling. Also, poor atomization will lead to an increase in the time the fuel takes to burn, increasing exhaust gas temperature thereby increasing nitrogen oxide emissions.
FP4000 contains surfactants (surface active agents), which break down the fuel droplets in size making it easier to burn, and an effective combustion catalyst, which speeds up the rate of the exothermic reaction. These two actions dramatically increase combustion efficiency, thereby increasing power output and fuel efficiency whilst reducing the release of harmful emissions.
Water Contol
Diesel fuel is hygroscopic, meaning that it absorbs water from the air. The existence of this water provides a breeding ground for bacterial and fungal growth. Left untreated, these micro organisms will multiply, contaminating fuel lines and clogging filters and injectors, causing poor performance and high emissions. Over time, these micro organisms will also break down the fuel making it harder to burn. Water contamination will bring with it sediments and dust which will form sludge in the fuel. This will also clog filters and injectors.
Water in fuel tends to exist in pockets. The micro organisms use these water pockets as a host and oxygen source, and the fuel as an energy source. By emulsifying the water with the fuel, FP4000 deprives the micro organism of a home and it then dies. The water is then able to pass harmlessly through the combustion chamber. This emulsification of water also prevents the formation of further Sulphuric acid.
Sludge Reduction
Diesel fuel generally contains more impurities than petrol and is more susceptible to water
contamination. Also, dust may find its way into the fuel tank during storage, causing deposit build up in the bottom of the tank. The existence of these impurities and their reaction with air, moisture and other impurities will cause the fouling of fuel lines, injectors and filters, resulting in poor fuel supply. This is often referred to as “sludging”, and it will lead to poor atomisation and therefore incomplete combustion. These contaminants may also filter their way into the oil system, degrading oil quality and reducing engine life.
FP4000 contains specially formulated detergents and dispersants which counteract the problems associated with sludging. Detergents dissolve sludge build up in fuel lines and injectors. This improves the fuel flow and the atomisation of the fuel in the combustion chamber. Dispersants keep the sludge forming contaminants in suspension with the fuel, thus preventing the accumulation of future build up.
Acid & Sulphur Control
Sulphur naturally occurs in crude oil, and is contained in diesel fuel in varying quantities. This sulphur will react with the water present in the fuel to form sulphurous and sulphuric acids.
The presence of these acids will cause corrosion to fuel tanks and lines, injectors and exhaust systems and the burning of these sulphur compounds will increase the output of SO2 , the major cause of acid rain.
FP4000 neutralizes acid found in the fuel, preventing further acid action. Also, by emulsifying the water in the fuel, it prevents further acid formation. The sulphur present in the fuel is passed through the combustion chamber and out of the exhaust.
